Baking soda has become an indispensable ingredient in every home. Thanks to its multiple properties, it responds effectively to your needs, whether they are related to household problems, health or even beauty. In this article, we will focus on the use of baking soda as a beauty product that will help you take care of your skin and beautify it.
Baking soda is a white powder that you can use mixed with water or other ingredients to cleanse your skin and treat the various skin problems you may be suffering from such as enlarged pores, brown spots, acne pimples, etc. Its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties help cleanse and soften your skin, while protecting it and giving it shine.
Here’s how to use baking soda to improve the appearance of your skin:
The mixture of water and baking soda
To exfoliate your skin and clean it, prepare a paste by mixing baking soda and warm water. Then apply it on your face and on the parts of the body that you want to soften (elbows, knees …). Perform a gentle circular massage to remove dead skin, soften the roughness, absorb excess oil and remove the residues of cosmetics and dust that accumulate in the pores and cause their expansion. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.
The mixture of baking soda and lemon
This blend is perfect for brightening your skin and unifying your complexion. Thanks to its antioxidants and its whitening action, lemon will help you purify your skin and lighten dark spots. So mix a little baking soda with a few drops of lemon then apply the mixture directly on acne pimples to dry or spread on your skin slightly wet to fade brown spots. Leave on for 10 minutes then rinse with warm water. Do not forget to moisturize your skin using your usual cream or oil.
This trick should be used in the evening only, to avoid the photo-sensitizing effect of lemon.
The mixture of baking soda and oatmeal
Mix one part baking soda with 2 parts oatmeal and add enough water to form a paste, which you spread evenly over your face avoiding the eye and mouth. Use gentle circular motions to thoroughly cleanse the skin and moisturize it, then leave on for about 15 minutes before rinsing with warm water. Your skin will be significantly cooler and more radiant.
The mixture of baking soda and coconut oil
This treatment is ideal for treating inflammations and for nourishing and moisturizing dry skin. Mix two equal parts of baking soda and coconut oil and apply the mixture to your skin. If you have sensitive skin, mix 1 part bicarbonate with 2 parts coconut oil. Leave on for a few minutes then rinse with warm water. The nourishing, moisturizing, soothing and regenerative properties of coconut oil restore your skin’s radiance and suppleness and help soothe irritation and repair your skin cells.
Because of the abrasive properties of baking soda, recipes based on this ingredient should not be applied more than once a week.
