The Aston Martin Valkyrie has the highest horsepower naturally aspirated engine in a road car, at an incredible 1,000 horsepower! That’s over 150 horsepower per liter, and it revs over 11,000 RPM.
It’s an impressive V12 engine built by Cosworth, but they’re not stopping there. In the Gordon Murray T.50, another naturally aspirated V12 engine is used, this time revving past 12,000 RPM!
In this video we’ll discuss how these engines work, how they reach such high horsepower levels, and compare them to other engines.
We’ll discuss the engine structure, displacement, BMEP, RPM, cam gearing, fuel injection, and just how quickly the McLaren F1’s successor engine can rev. Enjoy the video!Engineering Explained
